Mote Marine Laboratory Legacy Society
We each have a legacy to share. Planned giving, through a deferred or estate gift, is an important way to carry out this legacy and showcase for future generations what is meaningful to you. Many believe legacies take shape only after one’s death, but in truth, legacies are built and perpetuated as much during life as after it. As you think about your priorities, we ask you to consider how your legacy can help support the important mission and work being done at Mote Marine Laboratory and how your legacy might begin to take shape during your lifetime.
Mote Marine Laboratory Legacy Society celebrates those who have committed their support to Mote through their estate plans or other types of planned gifts. All donors who wish to be recognized receive regular news and information about the impact of planned gifts on the Lab and receive invitations to events through the year, including the annual Legacy Society event. For more information on joining the Legacy Society, please contact The Development Office at 941-388-4441, Ext. 309 or email@example.com.
A charitable remainder trust provides you or other named individuals income each year for life or a period not exceeding 20 years from assets you give to the trust you create.
You fund this type of trust with cash or appreciated assets—and may qualify for a federal income tax charitable deduction when you itemize. You can also make additional gifts; each one also qualifies for a tax deduction. The trust pays you, each year, a variable amount based on a fixed percentage of the fair market value of the trust assets. When the trust terminates, the remaining principal goes to Mote as a lump sum.
